Rather than throwing beginners expensive gears and then kicking them to the water with continuous aimless casting, while keeping their cash in pockets, APPROACH team prefers to know more about what local anglers really want, by discussing with new comers, maybe a couple of email or phone conversation, then to see what they can get from us in the realm of fly fishing.
APPROACH team aims to introduce inner parts of fly fishing to Taiwan fly anglers. By sharing the stories, methodologies, and even some fun ideas, Approach team proves fly fishing to be none of a productive way to pillage fish, a glamorous way to raise social status, or a gearhead way to show off personal wealth, but a way to approach the truth and nature.
APPROACH team DO sell proper gears to help anglers to approach the nature of fly fishing. And we DO provide more education courses than any other so called “dealers” on this island. By so doing, Approach team hopes to increase population of those who care about nature, conservation, and those who continuous pursuing knowledge and truth. By so doing APPROACH team believe one day we will gather enough people and enforce regulation to build an ideal environment where our next generation really deserves to live in.
APPROACH team introduces our own brand name rods and reels that are self-designed and fully made in our home land Taiwan. Backed by sophisticated understanding about fly fishing, our first two rods, Vintage series, marketing under the brand of Harvest, had won the Awards of Best Fishing Tackle of European Fishing Tackle Trade Exhibition in 2004 and 2005. Time changed with resources limited, we do not have a chance to go abroad for another exhibition again. But Approach Gears, currently 8 series, are still welcomed by overseas friends and we are doing business with fly anglers or shops in Europe, Japan, and China time by time.
So far APPROACH team is the only fly fishing pro shop that registered and import merchandises legally in Taiwan. By following the regulations, expenses, all kinds of tax, employee insurance, and USFW certificates included, go high. But APPROACH team insists to do what shall be done legally, and we are proud of ourselves. Our business is not built to make big bucks but to run as a social business to bring the beauty, the nature, the integrity, and the art of fly fishing to local anglers. So forth to bring on a better environment through group working on understanding and reservation of the nature for ourselves and our kids.
小左具有台灣知名西式毛鉤釣手、垂釣魚類資源管理專家、媒體人等多重身份，曾發表約30萬字西式毛鉤文章，是毛鉤釣法本土化的重要推手。
小宋為台灣最年輕的國際認證拋投指導員(CCI)，長於攝影、繪畫、國際釣遊規畫，是國際釣友來台的良伴。
現為毛鉤屋負責人，專長為公司管理與資料分析，常於毛鉤領域發表考古及分析論述，已發表近百篇的專欄著作。
